It
all began when my parents Thao and Henry got married here in the United States.
They were both born in Vietnam and came to America. They met in the state of
Florida and got married there. My dad’s uncle told him about San Diego, California
and how it has nice weather was, so that’s when my mom and dad decided to move
to San Diego. My dad went to SDSU and graduated with a
masters degree in Engineering. It’s ironic how I’m going to the same school as
he did. My mom never went to college but only graduated high school in Vietnam.
She just worked while my dad went to school and had their first child name
Quang. Quang is 30 years old now and is currently working in the business industry.
Then 7 years later, my other brother the middle child William was born. He is
currently attending Miramar College and is planning to become a dental hygienist.
Lastly, is me Diana which I am the only girl and youngest. I am currently 20
years old and attending SDSU. My degree right now is
Biochemistry, I was planning to become a pharmacist but I decided to switch
career paths. It’s hard deciding what you want to do as a profession because that’s
a job that I will be sticking with for a great amount of time. I have been
living here in San Diego all my life. I love being here because San Diego is
considered a city which is also located near the beach, and has plenty of
things to do as well. I lived in an area called Tierrasanta for 14 years, and
moved to Scripps Ranch for about 6 years now. All of our family is Vietnamese
and catholic, we usually got to church every Sunday. Luckily, my parents are still married, happy and still going strong. I have a lot of extended families, mostly residing in
California, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and Vietnam. |
